Chinese Telecom Giant Huawei Joins The SDR Forum

Leading telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei, based in Shenzhen, China, has joined The SDR Forum, a non-profit industry association dedicated to promoting the success of next-generation radio technologies, The SDR Forum announced today. Through their membership, Huawei will be able to collaborate with the other 108 member organizations of The SDR Forum to educate and influence decision makers, develop and expand markets, and advance relevant technologies while supporting their mutual objectives.

We are very excited to have Huawei as a member organization," said Lee Pucker, CEO of The SDR Forum. "By joining The SDR Forum, companies like Huawei illustrate the continuing value The Forum brings in facilitating collaboration between technical, government and business leaders at all levels of the wireless value chain to improve performance, reduce the total life cost of ownership, and facilitate the rapid deployment of standardized families of products, technologies and services."

"Huawei has established a significant roadmap in terms of SDR development and deployment," said Zhu Haobing, Vice President of Huawei`s Wireless Product Line.

"We are eager to see the benefits of global operator experience applied to the advantage of the SDR industry as a whole."

The SDR Forum has member companies representing countries around the globe, however Huawei is the group`s first member from China. This new membership was facilitated by the recent partnership between The SDR Forum and Infoex-World Services, allowing Infoex to represent the Forum`s 100+ members in China.

Infoex is pleased to be partnering with The SDR Forum to promote the understanding and adoption of Software Defined Radio across to spectrum regulators, wireless equipment manufacturers and the carrier community," said Zhang Wei, Technology Director and Chief Representative of Infoex-World Services Ltd.
